Compared to last report, Export hay steady.
Retail hay firm.
In the south basin several producers have begun new crop harvest with
the majority starting next week with 1st cutting.
Retail hay from feed stores in good demand as most have dimished supplies
on hand.
Trade remains slow to moderate as most producers have sold out supplies
but waiting on shipping and actual payments.
Demand good.
Exporters report export quality Alfalfa scarce.
Grass straw and Timothy is all but cleaned up.
On April 8, 2026, the Department of Ecology declared a statewide emergency
drought due to a dismal snowpack, an effect from an abnormally warm
winter.
The declaration marks the fourth consecutive year of drought, both partial
and statewide.
