Compared to the last report: Trade activity light on moderate demand
for feedlot and dairy hay.
Demand good on retail hay.
Hay prices were unevenly steady on comparable trades.
According to the US Drought Monitor's drought classification comparison,
California saw a 15% improvement in D0-D4 categories across the state
due to recent rains.
According to The National Drought Summary's West region for October
21, 2025, some unusually heavy early-season rain and snow has affected
portions of the West, including areas of central and southern California
where October so far has been wetter than most such months on record.
Large portions of central and upper southern California, the Great Basin,
and the western and eastern tiers of Utah saw improvement on this
week's Drought Monitor.
The next available hay report will be November 7, 2025.
